भव-भय भञ्जन कष्ट- निकन्दन 

आया शरण प्रभु करता हूं वन्दन 

पाप-वासना ज्वाला में क्यों जलूं? 

शान्त करो इनको प्यारे प्रभु! 

छुटकारा दे दो हूं मैं अनमन ।।

भव-भय......

लम्बी पाप की डोर रही जकड़ 

कर दो ढीली ना पाप करे घर 

अपना आपा करूं तुझे अर्पण ।। 

भव- भय........ 

रक्षक- पालक हो कितक महान ! 

पाप दुर्गति का कर दो त्राण 

दु:ख- पीड़ा के हो कष्ट निकन्दन 

भव-भय.......

तेरे ऋत की डोर बढ़ाएं 

सत्य नियम पर खुद को चलाएं 

रखना है ज्ञान कर्म पर संयम ।।

बीच में ना कटे जीवन तन्तु 

पूरा हो उद्देश्य सहेतु 

पूर्ण करूं कर्तव्य के कर्मन् 

भव-भय 

अपना आपा सौंप दिया है 

सौंप दिया हृदयहारि हिया है

पात्र बना लो अपना भगवन्।। 

भव-भय........

हो सकता यह सम्भव अद्यतन 

दूर करूं यदि पाप की उलझन 

कर दो सहायता प्यारे भगवन् ।। 

भव-भय......... 

रस्सी की भान्ति पाप शिथिल कर 

दूर न रह सकूं तुझसे प्रभुवर 

इसलिए यह पाप छुड़ा दे भगवन्

निकन्दन= नाश, संहार

अनमन= जिसका मन ठीक ना हो

त्राण= रक्षा, बचाव, आश्रय

ऋत= सृष्टि के शाश्वत नियम

जीवन- तन्तु= जीवन की डोर

सहेतु= कारण सहित

हृदयहारी=हृदय को हर लेने वाला

शिथिल= ढ़ीला,कमज़ोर

पाप-ताप नाशक प्रभो! मैं तेरी शरण में आया हूं। पाप वासना की ज्वाला में जल रहा हूं। प्रभु तू ही इनको शान्त कर। नाथ मेरे पाप की डोरी लम्बी है और इसने मुझे कस के जकड़ रखा है। मेरी आपसे विनती है--(वि मचछ्रयाय रशनामिवाग)मुझे रस्सी की भान्ति पाप की वासना ढ़ीली कर। प्रभो! पाप से ही छुटकारा नहीं मांग रहा हूं,मैं तो पाप के मूल-- वासना की वास से त्राण चाहता हूं । अत:कृपा कर। कृपालो! मैंने सुना है कि( सुनीतिभिर्नयसि

त्राय से जनं यस्तुभ्यं दाशन्न तमंहो अश्नवत्)[ऋ•२.२३.४]जो अपना- आपा तेरे अर्पण कर देता है उसे तू उत्तम रीति से चलाता है,उस जन की रक्षा करता है तथा उसको पाप नहीं व्यापता।(न तमंहो न दुरितं कुतश्चन..... ऋ. २/२३/५)हे महान रक्षक ! बड़ों के भी पलक प्रभो! तू उत्तम रक्षक जिसकी रक्षा करता है, उसको कहीं से भी पाप और दुर्गति प्राप्त नहीं होती। समाज- शत्रु और द्विजिह्व भी उसे दु:ख नहीं दे पाते हैं । इससे सभी पीड़ाओं को तू दूर भागता है। अपना- आपा जिसने तुझे सौंप दिया, उसकी रक्षा तो तू स्वयं ही करेगा। मैं भी अपना-आपा तुझे सौंपता हूं। ले ले ।  विपत्तितारक ! दु:खों से छूटने तथा तेरी रक्षा का पात्र बनने के लिए( ऋद्याम ते वरुण हे वरुण खामृतस्य) =वरुण हम तेरे ऋत की डोर को बढ़ाएं,तेरे बताए नियम के अनुसार चलें। उसके अनुसार चलते हुए 

(मा तन्तुश्छेदि वयतो नियंत्रण मे) =तदनुसार ज्ञान- कर्म का ताना-बाना बुनते - तनते मेरे जीवन का तन्तु बीच में न कट जाए। मैं अपना उद्देश्य इस जन्म में पूरा कर जाऊं। (मा मात्रा शार्यपस:पुर ऋतो:)=मेरे कर्म की मात्रा समय से पूर्व ना टूटे अर्थात् मैं अपने कर्तव्य कर्मों की इतिश्री करके ही जाऊं। यह तभी सम्भव हो सकता है कि मुझे पाप की उलझन से छुटकारा मिल चुका हो,अतः भव-भय भञ्जन !कष्ट- निकन्दन ! 

(दामेव वत्साद्वि मुमुग्ध्यंह:)[ऋ॰२.२८.६]बछड़े से रस्सी की भान्ति मुझसे पाप छुड़ा क्योंकि तुझसे दूर रहकर मैं तो आंख भी नहीं झपका सकता,अतः पिता पाप छुड़ा और अपने पास बसा।

Lord, destroyer of sins! I have come to your refuge. I am burning in the flames of sin and lust. Lord, only you can calm them down. O Lord, the rope of my sin is long and it has tied me tightly. I request you--(Vi machchhraaya rashnamivaag) loosen the lust of sin from me like a rope. Lord! I am not asking for freedom from sin only, I want relief from the root of sin-- lust. So be kind. Kind!  I have heard that ( Sunitibhirnayasi

traya se janam yastubhyam daashanna tamanho ashnavat ) [R.G. 2.23.4] 

You guide the one who surrenders his self to you in the best way, you protect that person and he is not affected by sin. ( Na tamamho na duritam kutashchan..... R.G. 2/23/5) Oh great protector! Even the eyelids of the elders! The one whom you protect, the best protector, does not get sin and misfortune from anywhere. Even the enemies of the society and the Brahmins are not able to cause him pain. By this you drive away all the pains. You yourself will protect the one who has surrendered his self to you. I too surrender my self to you. Take it. O savior of calamities!  To get rid of sorrows and to become eligible for your protection (Ridyaam te Varun he Varun khamritasya) = Varun, let us extend the thread of your season, let us follow the rules prescribed by you. While following them 

(Ma tantuschedi vaayato niranyan me) = Accordingly, while weaving the fabric of knowledge-deed, the thread of my life should not break in the middle. I should fulfil my objective in this birth. (Ma maatra shaaryapas:pur rito:) = The thread of my karma should not break before time, i.e. I should go only after completing my duties. This can be possible only when I have got rid of the entanglement of sins, hence, destroyer of fears of life! Remover of suffering!  (Daameva Vatsadvi Mumugdhyam:) [Rigve 2.28.6]Remove my sins like a rope from a calf, because staying away from you, I cannot even blink my eyes, so father, free me from my sins and stay near me.
