Two Birds of the Soul: The Secret of Consciousness and God

The Secret of the Soul, Consciousness and God

O humans, the universe and human life appear mysterious like a subtle molecule moving constantly in the vast system of nature. The power that operates this universe creates distinctions, forms laws, and establishes balance in the world.

Through the medium of fire and purification of consciousness, nature prepares the human organs to function according to universal rules. One is God and the other is nature. In the same way that God exists in nature, knowledge and science ultimately lead toward Brahma Gyan, the supreme spiritual knowledge.

The Nature of Consciousness

First of all, our consciousness exists within the body. This consciousness acts as the pillar that supports all organs and bodily functions. Through this consciousness, the body lives, experiences and interacts with the world.

There are two helpers within this system. One is the individual soul and the other is the divine presence of God.

The Human Body as the Tree of Nature

Ancient Vedic mantras describe the human body as a tree of nature. In this tree sit two beautiful golden birds.

The first bird represents the individual soul or consciousness. Through the body, mind and senses, it constantly experiences the pleasures and pains of worldly life. According to its actions, whether sinful or virtuous, the soul experiences the consequences as long as it resides within the body.

The second bird represents God Himself. This divine bird observes the soul, interacts with it, and grants the results of its actions. God remains the witness and the guide, bestowing justice, protection and grace.

The Awakening of the Soul

When the soul becomes aware that worldly pleasures ultimately lead to sorrow, it begins to withdraw from attachment. The mind then turns toward God.

As the consciousness connects with the divine, the qualities of God begin to descend into that consciousness. Just as fire becomes one with fire when they meet, the soul gradually attains divine attributes.

Freedom from Worldly Bondage

Through spiritual realization, the soul begins to free itself from the bondage of worldly existence. As long as it remains in the presence of God, it experiences divine joy and peace.

However, when its accumulated virtue weakens, the soul again takes birth. It may be born again in a noble and prosperous human family, continuing its journey toward higher realization.

Conclusion

The mystery of life lies in understanding the relationship between the soul, nature and God. When the soul realizes its divine connection and purifies its consciousness, it moves closer to liberation and eternal knowledge.
