त्रिणाचिकेतस्त्रिभिरेत्य सन्धिं

त्रिणाचिकेतस्त्रिभिरेत्य सन्धिं त्रिकर्मकृत्तरति जन्ममृत्यू। ब्रह्मजज्ञं देवमीड्यं विदित्वा निचाय्येमां शान्तिमत्यन्तमेति ॥

॥ लिप्यन्तरणम् ॥

triṇāciketastribhiretya sandhiṁ trikarmakṛttarati janmamṛtyū | brahmajajñaṁ devamīḍyaṁ viditvā nicāyyemāṁ śāntimatyantameti ||

॥ अन्वयः ॥

त्रिभिः सन्धिम् एत्य त्रिणचिकेतः त्रिकर्मकृत् जन्ममृत्यू तरति। ईड्यं ब्रह्मजज्ञं देवं विदित्वा निचाय्य इमाम् अत्यन्तं शान्तिम् एति ॥

॥ अन्वयलिप्यन्तरणम् ॥

tribhiḥ sandhim etya triṇaciketaḥ trikarmakṛt janmamṛtyū tarati| īḍyaṁ brahmajajñaṁ devaṁ viditvā nicāyya imām atyantaṁ śāntim eti ||

॥ सुबोधिनीभाष्यम् - गोपालानन्दस्वामिरचितम् ॥

[ नाचिकेताग्निचयनस्य फलम् ]

त्रिणाचिकेतस्त्रिभिरेत्य सन्धि त्रिकर्मकृत्तरति जन्ममृत्यू ।

ब्रह्मजज्ञं देवमीड्यं विदित्वा निचाय्येमा शान्तिमत्यन्तमेति ॥१७॥

अथ कर्म प्रस्तौति । त्रिकर्मकृत् - इज्याध्ययनदानरूपकर्मत्रयकृत् । त्रिणाचिकेतः - वारत्रयं नाचिकेतश्चितोऽग्निर्येन सः । त्रिश्चितैरग्निभिर्हेतुभिः सन्धिम् - उपासनेन सह संबन्धम्, एत्य जन्ममृत्यू तरति, मुक्तो भवतीति यावत् । उपासनद्वाराऽयमग्निश्चितो मुक्तये भवतीत्येतत् । अङ्गीभूतोपासनस्वरूपमाह - ब्रह्मजज्ञमिति । ब्रह्मजज्ञम् - सकलजगत्कारणाद्ब्रह्मणो जातं ज्ञं जीवम्, ईड्यं - देवं परमात्मानं च विदित्वा स्वात्मस्वरूपं परमात्मस्वरूपं च शास्त्रतो विदित्वा निचाय्य - ध्यानतः साक्षात्कृत्य, इमां शान्तिम् ध्यानतः साक्षात्कृत्य, इमां शान्तिम् - स्वबुद्धिसन्निहितत्वमभिप्रेत्येमामिति निर्देशः, आत्यन्तिकीं शान्तिमेति ।

यद्वा - ब्रह्मजज्ञं देवमीड्यमिति विशेष्यविशेषणभाव: । स्वात्मानं परमात्मानं मत्वा, तदात्मकंमत्वेति यावत् ॥१७॥

॥ आङ्गल-अर्थः ॥

“Whoso lights the three fires of Nachiketas and comes to union with the Three and does the triple works, beyond birth and death he crosses; for he finds the God of our adoration, the Knower who is born from the Brahman, whom having beheld he attains to surpassing peace.

॥ हिन्दी-अर्थः ॥

"जो तीन नचिकेता- अग्निर्यो५ को प्रदीप्त करता है तीनों६ के साथ संयुक्त हो जाता है, त्रिविध कर्म७ 'करता है, वह जन्म और मृत्यु को पार कर जाता है; क्योंकि वह उस आराध्य 'देव' को जान जाता है जो 'ब्रह्म' से उत्पन्न है, 'ज्ञाता'' है तथा उसका दर्शन पाकर वह परा-शान्ति को प्राप्त करता है।

॥ शब्दावली ॥

त्रिणचिकेतः - triṇaciketaḥ - whoso lights the three fires of Nachiketas (Probably, the Divine Force utilised to raise to divinity the triple being of man.)

त्रिभिः - tribhiḥ - with the Three (Possibly, the three Purushas, soul-states or Personalities of the Divine Being, indicated by the three letters A U M. The highest Brahman is beyond the three letters of the mystic syllable.)

सन्धिम् - sandhim - to union

एत्य - etya - comes

त्रिकर्मकृत् - trikarmakṛt - one who does the triple works (The sacrifice of the lower existence to the divine, consummated on the three planes of man's physical, vital and mental consciousness.)

जन्ममृत्यू - janmamṛtyū - birth and death

तरति - tarati - he crosses beyond

ईड्यम् देवम् - īḍyam devam - the God of our adoration

ब्रह्मजज्ञम् - brahmajajñam - the Knower who is born from the Brahman (The Purusha or Divine Being, Knower of the Field, who dwells within all and for whose pleasure Prakriti fulfils the cosmic play.)

विदित्वा - viditvā - he finds

निचाय्य - nicāyya - having beheld

इमाम् - imām - whom

अत्यन्तम् शान्तिम् - atyantam śāntim - to surpassing peace

एति - eti - he attains
