*ओ३म् दे॒वो दे॒वाना॑मसि मि॒त्रो अद्भु॑तो॒ वसु॒र्वसू॑नामसि॒ चारु॑रध्व॒रे ।*

*शर्म॑न्त्स्याम॒ तव॑ स॒प्रथ॑स्त॒मेऽग्ने॑ स॒ख्ये मा रि॑षामा व॒यं तव॑ ॥*

उसको ही ध्यायें

है पराया जग,

अद्भुत मित्र

हे प्रभु हम चाहते हैं कि हम तेरी विस्तीर्ण तम शरण मैं रहने लगें। तेरी शरण इतनी फैली हुई है कि उसमें आकर मनुष्य किसी भी देश में व किसी भी काल में दु:ख नहीं पा सकता। संसार की और कोई भी वस्तु का आश्रय ऐसा नहीं है। सब सुख, सब आश्रय और सब शरण इसके सामने अत्यन्त तुच्छ हैं, क्योंकि संसार के सब देवों के भी देव तुम हो। सब देवों में देवत्व तुम्हारे द्वारा ही आया है। तुम्हारे आश्रय बिना इन अग्नि आदि महान दिखने वाले देवताओं में कुछ नहीं है। इन सब बसाने वालों के बसानेवाले तुम हो। सब धनों के धन तुम हो। तुम्हें पाकर और सब धन बेकार हो जाते हैं। सब पूर्णिया यज्ञों के अंदर तुम ही शोभायमान होते हो। यज्ञों का सौंदर्य तुम हो। तुम्हारे बिना कोई यज्ञ यज्ञ नहीं रह सकता और तुम अद्भुत मित्र हो। ओह! ऐसा मित्र और कौन हो सकता है? यदि सर्वशक्तिमान और तीनों कालों का जानने वाला मित्र किसी को मिल सके तो उसे और क्या चाहिए! इसलिए अब हम तेरे शहर में (मैत्री में) आना चाहते हैं। हमने तुझे देवों का देव, वस्तुओं का बसु समझ लिया है, अतः हमें अब किसी अन्य देव व वस्तु की प्राप्ति की चाहना नहीं रही है, हमने तुझे "सब यज्ञों के सौंदर्य"रूप में देख लिया है, अतः हमें अब किन्ही कर्मकांडमय यज्ञो के करने में आकर्षण नहीं रहा है, तेरे निरंतर ध्यान का यज्ञ ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ है लगता है। और हमने तुझे अद्भुत मित्र देखा है--ओह! ऐसा अद्भुत! ऐसा विलक्षण!! तुझ सर्वज्ञ, सर्व समर्थ, मित्र की अद्भुतता दूसरे ना जानने वाले को कैसे समझाई जावे? ओह! तुम कैसी विलक्षणता से हम सब के साथ आठों पहर, हर घड़ी, हर पल परम मित्र था निभा रहे हो! तुम जैसे अद्भुत मित्र को देखकर अब हमें और किसी की मैत्री की ज़रूरत नहीं है।अरे! वह अनजान लोग हैं जो संसार में और किसी की मैत्री पाने के लिए टक्करें मारते फिरते हैं। तेरी विस्तृत शरण में तो और सब शरण समा जाती हैं, अतः हे स्वामी! हमें तू अपनी मैत्री प्रदान कर, तब हमें कोई ख़तरा ना रह सकेगा! हे प्रभु! तू हमें अपनी अनन्त, अपार शरण में जगह दे दे, तब हमें किसी विनाश का भय न रह सकेगा।

Wonderful friend

O Lord, we desire to take refuge in Your vast darkness. Your refuge is so extensive that by coming to it, man cannot suffer in any country and in any time. Nothing else in the world has such a shelter. All pleasures, all shelters and all refuges are very insignificant before it, because you are the God of all the gods of the world. Divinity among all the gods has come through you. Without your shelter, there is nothing in these great-looking gods like fire. You are the settler of all these settlers. You are the wealth of all wealth. Finding you and all the wealth is wasted. You are the most beautiful inside all the Purnia sacrifices. You are the beauty of sacrifices. No sacrifice can survive without you and you are a wonderful friend. Oh! Who else could be such a friend? If one can find a friend who is omnipotent and knows the three times, what else does one want! So now we want to come to your city (in friendship). We have understood You as the God of gods, Basu of objects, so we no longer desire to attain any other god and object, we have seen You as the "beauty of all sacrifices", so we no longer desire to attain any ritualistic sacrifices There has been no attraction in doing, the sacrifice of your constant attention seems to be the best. And we have seen you wonderful friend--oh! Such a wonderful! Such a fantastic!! How can the wonder of your omniscient, omnipotent, friend be explained to someone who does not know you? Oh! How extraordinarily you are playing with us all around the clock, every hour, every moment was the ultimate friend! Seeing a wonderful friend like you, we don't need anyone else's friendship anymore. Hey! They are strangers who bump into the world and gain someone else's friendship. In Thy vast shelter all other shelters are contained, therefore, O Lord! Grant us Thy friendship, Then there shall be no danger to us! O Lord! Thou give us a place in Thy eternal, immense refuge, and then we shall fear no destruction.
