सारी स्तुतियों का पात्र तो है भगवान

सर्वगुण का निधान है गुणेश महान 

कौन सा गुण है ऐसा जो प्रभु में नहीं 

है वह गुणसागर अतिगुण वित्तेश विद्वान ।।

धरणावती बुद्धि धारक है वो विप्र 

वेदकर्ता है तमवारक ब्रह्म विचित्र 

सर्व तत्वों का गुण धर्म प्रापक है मित्र 

सर्वगुण सम्पन्न भगवान है करुणा निधान ।।

सत्य व्यवहार सत्योपदेश इच्छुक 

उस 'पनस्यु' को पाने को सब हैं उत्सुक 

सब प्रजाओं का है वह प्रजेश अनिरुद्ध 

ज्ञानपति प्रभु का ही है यह वेद- वरदान।।

सत्य व्यवहारों की जिनको आती समझ 

कभी दस्यु ना बनते, बन जाते अनघ 

सत्य नियमों से होते कभी ना अलग 

ऋषियों के समान वो बनते गुणवान ।।

सत्तू की तरह छान वाणी का प्रशय 

पाया सखा का सखित्व सुधित हर समय

निधान= स्थापन

गुणेश= सब गुणों का ऐश्वर्यवान

वित्तेश= सब धनों का स्वामी

धरणावती बुद्धि= धारण करने योग्य बुद्धि

विप्र= कर्मनिष्ठ, मेधावी, पुरोहित

तमवारक= अज्ञान,अंधकार दूर करने वाला

विचित्र= अनोखा, रंग बिरंगा

प्रापक= जो पाने योग्य हो

'पनस्यु '= सबसे स्तुति पानेवाला

अनिरुद्ध= व्यवधान(बाधा) रहित

दस्यु=दुष्ट, धोखेबाज़

अनघ= पवित्र , पाप रहित

उद्भासित= सुशोभित, सुन्दर रूप में प्रकट

प्रशय= आधार, आश्रय, सहारा

सुधित= सुव्यवस्थित, अमृत के समान

प्रतान= विस्तृत , विस्तार

                        स्वाध्याय

सचमुच सभी स्तुतियों का पात्र भगवान है। कौन सा ऐसा गुण है जो भगवान में नहीं है । वह सर्वगुण निधान है। उसके गुणों का कथन ही वास्तविक स्तुति है। 

भगवान को यहां ब्रह्मकृत अर्थात् वेद कर्ता कहा गया है। तनिक वेद के शब्दों पर ध्यान दीजिए। भगवान को पहले इन्द्र अर्थात् अंधकार- वारक कहा गया है। अन्धकार तो सूर्य आदि भौतिक पदार्थ भी दूर करते हैं। इसलिए भगवान के सम्बन्ध में कहा कि वह विप्र है, बुद्धिमान भी है, ऐसा बुद्धिमान जिसमें धरणावती बुद्धि भी है,अर्थात् वह जड़ नहीं है। संसार में सैकड़ो विप्र हैं किन्तु भगवान बृहद् अर्थात् महान है और साथ ही ब्रह्मकृत् वेदकर्ता है। सृष्टि के आरम्भ में मनुष्य को कार्य चलाने के लिए विश्व तथा विश्वपति का ज्ञान कराने के लिए भगवान् ने जो ज्ञान दिया वह सब विद्याओं का मूल है। सभी ऋषि- मुनि कहते हैं-- बीज रूप से वेद में सभी विद्याएं हैं। ऋग्वेद में एक स्थान पर वेद को परमात्मा की रचना बताया है देवत्तं ब्रह्म गायत (ऋ•१.३७.४) अर्थात् परमात्मा के दिए वेद का गान करो। स्पष्ट रूप से ब्रह्म अर्थात वेद के साथ देवत्तं [देव का दिया हुआ] विशेषण विद्यमान है। वेद ज्ञान देने का प्रयोजन बताने के लिए मन्त्र में एक और विशेषण लगाया गया है कि वह पनस्यु  है अर्थात् व्यवहार का उपदेश देने का इच्छुक है। मनुष्य के पारस्परिक व्यवहार में त्रुटि न आए सभी पदार्थों के गुणधर्म उसे प्राप्त ज्ञात हो सके इस दृष्टि से करुणानिधान सर्वगुण खान भगवान् से सर्गारम्भ में मनुष्यों को वेद ज्ञान दिया। वही सच्चा ज्ञान है।

ऋग्वेद के 10 मंडल का 71  सूक्त 'ज्ञानसूक्त' है। इसमें वेदोत्पत्ति का वर्णन बहुत सुन्दर शब्दों में है वहां पहले मन्त्र में बृहस्पति अर्थात् ज्ञानपति भगवान ने वेदोत्पति बतलाकर मानो एक शंका का समाधान करने के लिए दूसरे मन्त्र की रचना की है। शंका यह है कि जब भगवान् ने मनुष्य के हृदय में ज्ञान दिया क्या उच्चारण करते समय उसने उसमें अपना कुछ नहीं मिलाया? 

इसका समाधान ऋग्वेद 10.71.2 में बताया कि जैसे चालनी से सत्तू साफ किए जाते हैं, ऐसे ही उन धीरों ने मन से वाणी को किया अर्थात् शुद्ध वाणी ही बाहर आने दी,क्योंकि भगवान् के सखा  सखित्व के नियमों को जानते हैं, उनकी वाणी पर कल्याणकारी श्री विराजती है अर्थात् सर्गारम्भ के वेदप्रापक ऋषियों ने शुद्ध परमात्मा प्रदत्त ज्ञान ही उच्चारण किया था।

Meaning of words:-

Nidhan = establishment

Gunesh = opulent of all virtues

Vittesh = owner of all wealth

Dharanaavati Buddhi = intelligence worth holding

Tamvaarak = one who removes ignorance, darkness

Indeed, God is the worthy of all praises. What is that quality which is not in God? He is the repository of all virtues. The description of His qualities is the real praise.

Here, God has been called Brahmakrit i.e. the creator of Vedas. Just pay attention to the words of the Vedas. God has first been called Indra i.e. the destroyer of darkness. Even physical objects like the Sun etc. remove darkness. Therefore, it is said about God that he is a Brahmin, and also intelligent, such an intelligent person who also has Dharanavati intelligence, i.e. he is not inert. There are hundreds of Brahmins in the world but God is big i.e. great and at the same time is Brahmakrit Vedakarta. The knowledge that God gave to man in the beginning of creation to give him the knowledge of the world and the Lord of the world to carry on his work is the root of all knowledge. All sages and munis say--all knowledge is present in the Vedas in seed form.  At one place in Rigveda, Vedas are said to be the creation of God, Devattam Brahma gayat (Rigveda 1.37.4) i.e. sing the Vedas given by God. Clearly, along with Brahma i.e. Vedas, there is the adjective Devattam [given by God]. To explain the purpose of imparting the knowledge of Vedas, another adjective has been added in the mantra that it is panasyu i.e. it is willing to give instructions on behavior. To ensure that there is no mistake in the mutual behavior of man, he should know the properties of all things, from this point of view, the God who is the repository of compassion and is the mine of all virtues, gave the knowledge of Vedas to men in the beginning of the world. That is the true knowledge.

The 71st Sukta of the 10th Mandal of Rigveda is 'Gyan Sukta'. In this, the origin of Vedas is described in very beautiful words. There in the first mantra, Brihaspati i.e. God Gyanpati has created the second mantra as if to solve a doubt by describing the origin of Vedas.  The doubt is that when God gave knowledge to man's heart, did he not add anything of his own while pronouncing it? 

Its solution is given in Rigveda 10.71.2 that just like Sattu (a type of wheat flour) is cleaned through a sieve, similarly those wise people did the speech through their mind, that is, they allowed only pure speech to come out, because God's friends know the rules of friendship, Because the auspiciousness resides on their speech, that is, the sages who received the Vedas at the beginning of the world spoke only the pure knowledge given by God.
