*ओ३म् वेदा॒ यो वी॒नां प॒दम॒न्तरि॑क्षेण॒ पत॑ताम्।*

*वेद॑ ना॒वः स॑मु॒द्रियः॑॥*

*वेद॑ मा॒सो धृ॒तव्र॑तो॒ द्वाद॑श प्र॒जाव॑तः।*

*वेदा॒ य उ॑प॒जाय॑ते॥*

*वेद॒ वात॑स्य वर्त॒निमु॒रोर्ऋ॒ष्वस्य॑ बृह॒तः।*

*वेदा॒ ये अ॒ध्यास॑ते॥*

ऋग्वेद 1/25/7-8-9

हे वरणीय !! महाप्रभु वरुण !!

अनन्त महाज्ञानी हो तुम 

तुमसे ना कोई बात छुपी 

सर्वत्र तेरी सत्ता रही 

तुमसे ना कोई क्षण है ओझल 

दृष्टि अगण है, है रक्षण 

हे वरणीय !! महाप्रभु वरुण !!

नभ में उड़ते पंछियों की 

गतिविधि पर है तेरी नज़र 

नौकायें सागर में चल रही 

दृष्टि तेरी है यात्रियों पर  

बारह महीने सम्वत्सर के 

जो हो उत्पन्न उसकी खबर

वर्ष-वर्षों के पल छिन दिन 

गिने हुए हैं अङ्गुल पर 

वरुण की दृग्भू दृष्टि से 

ना कोई बच सके प्राणी जन 

हे वरणीय !! महाप्रभु वरुण !!

अनन्त महाज्ञानी हो तुम 

देखो सदागति वायु है अदृश्य 

आँखों से ना देख सके हम 

अदृश्य से अदृश्य पदार्थ 

पारदर्शक हैं उसके नयन 

जड़ चेतन तत्व सकल ब्रह्माण्ड के

चाहे स्थिर हो या हो चलन 

हस्ताकमलवत् वरुण ही जाने 

उसके अवस्था का ये क्रम 

ऐसा सर्वज्ञ सर्वावगाही 

रक्षण करता है वह वरुण 

हे वरणीय !! महाप्रभु वरुण !!

अनन्त महाज्ञानी हो तुम 

भली-बुरी हर सोच हमारी 

या हमारे हों कर्म सकल 

हैं यदि वे सत्य पथ पर 

धृतवत वरुण करते सफल 

और यदि व्रत भञ्ज भङ्गुर हो 

भोगना होगा दण्डित फल 

कोई छुपा चाहे सिन्धु या नभ में 

ना वरुण से है ओझल 

हे मेरे आत्मन् !! व्रतपति के 

व्रतानुसार हो तेरा चलन  

हे वरणीय !! महाप्रभु वरुण !!

अगम = दुर्गम, ना चलने वाला

दृग्भू दृष्टि = सूर्य समान पैनी दृष्टि

हस्तामलकवत् = अच्छी तरह समझ में आने वाला

सर्वावगाही = सब ओर से चिंतन करने वाला

भञ्ज = तोड़ना

भङ्गुर = टेढ़ा

धृतव्रत = सब नियमों का धारण करने वाला (वरुण)

चर-अचर का ज्ञाता

उस वरणीय महाप्रभु के ज्ञान की कोई सीमा नहीं है। वे सर्वज्ञ हैं, महाज्ञानी हैं।

उनसे विश्व की कोई बात छिपी हुई नहीं है। उनकी सर्वत्र सत्ता है। इसलिए उनसे कहीं की भी कोई बात ओझल नहीं रहती। वह आकाश में रहते हुए एक एक पक्षी और उसकी सब गतिविधियों को जानते हैं। समुद्र में चल रही नौकाओं की और उनके यात्रियों की भी कोई गतिविधि उन से छिपी नहीं है। विश्व भरको अपने व्रतों में बांधकर रखने वाले वे प्रभु संवत्सर के बारह महीनों में जो कुछ भी उत्पन्न होता है उस सब का भली-भांति ज्ञान रखते हैं। बारह महीनों के दिन और उनका एक-एक पल प्रभु के गिने हुए हैं । उनमें उत्पन्न होने वाली वस्तुएं भला उनकी आंखों से कहां बच सकती थीं? अदृश्य से अदृश्य पदार्थ भी उनकी पारदर्शक दृष्टि से छिपे नहीं रहते। तीव्र से तीव्र गति वाले पदार्थ भी उनके ज्ञान की पकड़ से बचे नहीं रहते। देखो वायु कितना अदृश्य है। हम में से कोई भी इसे अपनी आंखों से नहीं देख सकता। वैज्ञानिकों के महाशक्तिशाली सूक्ष्मदर्शी यन्त्रों की पकड़ में भी यह वायु नहीं आता। यह वायु गतिशील भी बड़ा है। एक तो यह सदा ही चलता रहता है, सदा ही गति करता रहता है। इसलिए इसका एक नाम सदागति है। फिर इस समय- समय पर इसकी गति की तीव्रता भी प्रचंड हो जाती है। ऐसे अदृश्य सदागति और प्रचण्ड वेग वाले वायु के विषय में भी पर भगवान सब कुछ जानते हैं। कहां पर, किस मार्ग से, किस गति और वेद से वायु चल रहा है यह सब उन प्रभु को पता है। ना केवल गति वाले प्रत्युत ब्रह्मांड के सब स्थिर पदार्थों का भी प्रभु को संपूर्ण ज्ञान है। एक शब्द में इस असीम और महान विश्व में किस समय, कहां पर, कौन सा जड़ और चेतन पदार्थ किस अवस्था में है यह सब भगवान को हस्तामलकवत्(अच्छी तरह समझ में आने वाला) प्रत्यक्ष होता है। ऐसे सर्वज्ञ प्रभु के सर्वावगाही(सब चिंतन करने वाला) ज्ञान से हम में से किसकी सामर्थ है कि बचा रह सके? हमारे भले और बुरे प्रत्येक विचार और कर्म को भी जानते हैं। इसलिए हम उस "धृतव्रत"स्वामी के व्रतों को, नियमों को, तोड़कर सुखी नहीं रह सकते। हमें उसके व्रतों के भंग का फल भोगना होगा। आकाश में चढ़कर और समुद्र में छिपकर भी कोई उसकी पकड़ से बच नहीं सकता। वायु की तरह अदृश्य एवं प्रचंड वेग वाला होकर भी कोई उसके हाथ से बाहर नहीं हो सकता। उसकी कभी न झपकना वाली आंख सब को सदा और सर्वत्र निर्निमेष हो कर देख रही है।

हे मेरे आत्मा! उस 'धृतव्रत'स्वामी को उस व्रतपति को, और सर्वज्ञ जानकर तू उसके व्रतों के अनुकूल होकर चल। इसी में तेरा कल्याण है।

tumase na koee baat chhupee 

sarvatra teree satta rahee 

tumase na koee kshan hai ojhal 

drishti agan hai, hai rakshan 

he varaneeya !! mahaaprabhu varun !!

nabh mein udate panchhiyon kee 

gatividhi par hai teree nazar 

naukaayen saagar mein chal rahee 

drishti teree hai yaatriyon par  

baarah maheene samvatsar ke 

jo ho utpanna usakee khabar

varsh-varshon ke pal chhin din 

gine hue hain angul par 

varun kee drigbhoo drishti se 

na koee bach sake praanee jan

dekho sadaagati vaayu hai adrshya 

aankhon se na dekh sake ham 

adrishy se adrishy padaarth 

paaradarshak hain usake nayan 

jad chetan tatva sakal brahmaand ke

chaahe sthir ho yaa ho chalan 

hastaakamalavat varun hee jaane 

usake avastha ka ye kram 

aisa sarvagya sarvaavagaahee 

rakshan karata hai vah varun

ya hamaare hon karm sakal 

hain yadi ve satya path par

na varun se hai ojhal 

he mere aatman !! vratapati ke 

vrataanusaar ho tera chalan

You are infinite and wise

Nothing is hidden from you

Your power is everywhere

No moment is hidden from you

Your vision is countless, your protection

O beloved!! Lord Varun!!

You keep an eye on the movements of the birds flying in the sky

The boats sailing in the ocean

You keep an eye on the travelers

Whatever is born in the twelve months of the Samvatsara

The moments and seconds of the years

are counted on the finger

From the visual sight of Varun

No living being can escape

O beloved!! Lord Varun!!

 You are an infinite and great knower

Look, the eternal air is invisible

We cannot see with our eyes

The most invisible of all the invisible substances

His eyes are transparent

Whether the living and non-living elements of the entire universe

Be it stationary or moving

Only Varuna knows like a lotus-like hand

This order of his state

Such an omniscient and omnipresent Varuna protects

Oh, the one who is worthy of worship!!  Mahaprabhu Varun!!  You are the infinite and great knower

All our thoughts, good or bad

Or all our deeds

If they are on the path of truth

Varuna makes them successful

And if the vow is broken

One will have to bear the consequences

Whether someone is hiding in the ocean or in the sky

No one is hidden from Varuna

Oh my soul!!  Your conduct should be in accordance with the vows of the Vratpati, O revered one!!  Mahaprabhu Varun!!  You are the infinite and great knower

Nothing is hidden from you

Your power is everywhere

No moment is hidden from you

Your vision is countless, you protect

Knower of the moving and the immovable

The knowledge of that worthy Mahaprabhu has no limits. He is omniscient, the one with great wisdom.

Nothing in the world is hidden from Him. He has power everywhere. Therefore, nothing anywhere remains hidden from Him. Living in the sky, He knows every bird and all its activities. No activity of the boats sailing in the sea and their passengers is also hidden from Him. That Lord, who keeps the whole world bound in His vows, has a thorough knowledge of everything that is produced in the twelve months of the Samvatsara. The days of the twelve months and each and every moment of them are counted by the Lord. How could the things produced in them escape His eyes? Even the most invisible objects do not remain hidden from His transparent vision. Even the objects moving at the fastest speed do not escape the grasp of His knowledge. See how invisible the air is. None of us can see it with our eyes. This air does not come under the grasp of the super-powerful microscopes of scientists. This air is also very dynamic.  Firstly, it always keeps moving, always keeps moving. Hence, one of its names is Sadagati. Then, from time to time, the intensity of its speed also becomes tremendous. God knows everything about this invisible and tremendous speed wind. Where, which path, which speed and Veda the wind is moving, God knows all this. God has complete knowledge not only of the moving but also of all the stationary objects of the universe. In a word, in this infinite and great universe, at what time, where, which inanimate and conscious object is in what state, all this is visible to God like a hand-made (well understood). Who among us has the capability to stay away from the omniscient (all-thinking) knowledge of such an omniscient God? He knows our every good and bad thought and action. Therefore, we cannot remain happy by breaking the vows and rules of that "Dhritvrat" Swami. We will have to bear the consequences of breaking his vows.  Even by climbing in the sky or hiding in the ocean, no one can escape his grasp.

Even though invisible and having tremendous speed like the wind, no one can escape his grasp. His eyes that never blink are always watching everyone and everywhere without blinking.

O my soul! Knowing that 'Dhritvrat' Swami, that Vratpati, and Omniscient, you should follow his vows. This is your welfare.
