अथर्ववेद 8/4/12

बहने दूँ, बहने दूँ, सत्य बहने दूँ

बहने दूँ सत्य की गङ्गा

बनूँ असत्य का ना अन्धा

प्रभु सत्य का पाठ पढ़ा दे

सत्यशील मुझे तू बना दे

बहने दूँ, बहने दूँ, सत्य बहने दूँ

सत्-असत् की जग में है स्पर्धा

दोनों चाहें निज श्रेष्ठता

स्वार्थियों में तो असत्य उभरता

जिसे उपयुक्त समझता

सत्य ग्रन्थों को जब वह पढ़ता

निष्कपट ज्ञानी को वरता

रहने दे, रहने दे, प्रभु रहने दे

नीति-निपुण लोगों में

दूर है जो भोगों से

सत्यनिष्ठों का बनूँ मैं पुजारी

रहूँ उनका सदा आभारी

बहने दूँ, बहने दूँ, सत्य बहने दूँ

सत्यनिष्ठ मिले मुझको सत्वर

रहे जो मेरे हितकर

सोमेश्वर से ही जो मिला दे

छल-कुटिलता रहे मिटकर

सत्य ज्ञान सर्वोच्च मैं चाहूँ

हृदयस्थ सोमदेव पाऊँ

रहने दे, रहने दे, सत्य रहने दे

सत्य निपुणता निभाऊँ

अभीष्ट सोम से पाऊँ

ऋत-सत्य से हृदय सजाऊँ

प्रभु से सुख शान्ति पाऊँ

सोमरूप हे परमेश्वर !

सत्य सुविज्ञान बढ़ाओ

सत् असत् के इन युद्धों में

सत्य की विजय दिलाओ

सत्य वचन सत्य व्यवहारों को

सत्यनिष्ठ = सत्य में आस्था रखनेवाला

सत्वर = तुरन्त, झटपट

कुटिलता = टेढ़ापन

अभीष्ट = मनचाही वस्तुजथथेथखेखथ

ऋत = सृष्टि के सनातन नियम

अभिज्ञ = जानने वाला, कुशल

सत्य की खोज

मनुष्य जब वास्तविक ऊंचे ज्ञान को विवेकपूर्वक जानना चाहता है, जब वह सत्य ज्ञान की खोज में होता है, तब उस विवेकशील पुरुष के सामने सत्य और असत्य दोनों स्पर्धा करते हुए आते हैं। दोनों उसके सामने अपनी अपनी श्रेष्ठता दिखाना चाहते हैं दोनों उसके हृदय पर कब्जा करना चाहते हैं। कभी सत्य प्रबल होता है कभी असत्य प्रबल होता है। इस तरह देर तक यह स्पर्धा यह लड़ाई चलती रहती है। जब उस पर किन्ही कुटिल और असत्य से काम निकालने वाले लोगों का प्रभाव पड़ता है तब वह असत्यता को ही काम की चीज समझ लेता है और यदि वह सत्य ग्रंथों को पढ़ता है या सच्चे निष्कपट पवित्र लोगों के संग में आता है तो सत्य की महत्ता को समझने लगता है।

फिर किसी जबरदस्त बलवान नीति- निपुण पुरुष का प्रभाव उसे यह सिखा देता है कि संसार में असत्य के बिना काम नहीं चलता है, पर पुनः कोई महान सत्य निष्ठ पुरुष उसे सत्य का पुजारी, सत्य के पीछे पागल बना देता है। इस तरह सत्य और असत्य दोनों प्रकार के वचन ( ज्ञान)

उस पर प्रभाव जमाने के लिए स्पर्धा करते हैं, पर मनुष्य को यह पता होना चाहिए (और विवेकी पुरुष को यह धीरे-धीरे पता हो जाता है) कि मनुष्य के हृदय में बैठा हुआ सोम परमेश्वर तो सदा सच की, अकुटिल की ही रक्षा कर रहा है और असत् का नाश कर रहा है। जो लोग इस सत्य से अभिज्ञ हो जाते हैं सोम की शरण में जाना चाहते हैं और अपने आप को सत्य के सोमरस में निरन्तर बहने देते हैं और जो सचमुच सर्वोच्च सत्य ज्ञान की खोज में लगे हुए हैं उन्हें इसी हृदयस्थ सोमदेव की शरण जाना चाहिए, तभी उन्हें अपना अभीष्ट मिलेगा, क्योंकि सब भूतों के हृद्देश में बैठे हुए सोम ईश्वर के आश्रय को मनुष्य जितना ही अधिक सर्वतोभाव से ग्रहण करता है, उतना ही उसमें असत्य का नाश होकर सत्य और निष्कपटता बढ़ती जाती है और उसमें सुविज्ञान भरता जाता है,अत: इस सत् और असत् की लड़ाई में मनुष्य जितना ही सोम का आश्रय लेगा, उतनी ही जल्दी उसमें सत्य की विजय होगी और उसे शान्ति मिलेगी। हर एक जीव की इस सत- असत् की स्पर्धा में जल्दी या कितनी ही देर में अन्ततः सोम परमेश्वर द्वारा विजय तो सत्य की ही होनी निश्चित है, क्योंकि वह सोम सदा सत्य का, सत्य वचन का, सत्य व्यवहार का रक्षण कर रहे रहे हैं और असत्य का, असत्य भाषण का, असत्य व्यवहार का हनन कर रहे हैं।

इसलिए ऐ मानव! तू सत्य की सरिता में अपने आप को बहने दे।स्नात होने का आनन्द ले

Let it flow, let it flow, let the truth flow

Let the Ganga of truth flow

Let me not become blind to falsehood

Prabhu teach me the lesson of truth

Make me truthful

There is competition in the world between truth and falsehood

Both want their own superiority

Falsehood emerges among selfish people

Whomever he deems fit

When he reads the true scriptures

He prefers the honest and wise

Among the people skilled in ethics

Who is far from pleasures

I will become a worshipper of the truthful

I will always be grateful to them

May I get honesty quickly

Make truth victorious

Search for Truth

When a man wants to know the real higher knowledge judiciously, when he is in search of true knowledge, then both truth and untruth come in competition with that prudent man. Both want to show their superiority in front of him, both want to capture his heart. Sometimes truth prevails, sometimes untruth prevails. In this way, this competition, this fight continues for a long time. When he is influenced by some devious and untruthful people, then he considers untruth to be useful and if he reads true scriptures or comes in the company of true, honest and holy people, then he starts understanding the importance of truth.

Then the influence of some very strong, policy-skilled man teaches him that the world cannot function without untruth, but again some great truth-devoted man makes him a worshipper of truth, mad after truth. In this way, both true and false words (knowledge) compete to influence him, but man should know (and a prudent man gradually comes to know this) that the Supreme God Som sitting in man's heart is always protecting the true and the unrighteous and destroying the untruth. Those who become aware of this truth want to take refuge in Som and allow themselves to flow continuously in the Som juice of truth and those who are really engaged in the search of the highest true knowledge should take refuge in this Somdev sitting in the heart, only then will they get their desired goal, because the more a man accepts the refuge of the Supreme God Som sitting in the heart of all beings, the more untruth is destroyed in him and truth and honesty increases and he is filled with good knowledge, hence, the more a man takes refuge in Som in this battle between truth and untruth, the sooner truth will win in him and he will get peace.

In this competition between truth and untruth, sooner or later, it is certain that truth will be victorious through the Supreme God Som, because Som is always protecting truth, true words, true conduct and destroying untruth, false speech, false conduct.

Therefore, O human! Let yourself flow in the river of truth. Enjoy bathing.
