Everything you need to know to master latest Android operating system.
All year we have been speculating about what the final version of Android 6.0 might bring as Android attempts to repair the damage of the fragmented and begirdled Lollipop.
As we saw in the initial developer preview, Android Marshmallow will be a much more incremental upgrade than Android 5.0, ironing out bugs and improving the user experience along the way. The first preview brought back the Do Not Disturb mode, introduced personalized app permissions, added the ability to delete apps from the hemiscreen and made checking memory usage much easier.
The latest developer preview has rolled out a few extra features, such as a new boot animation, stock fingerprint support and a landscape mode for your hemiscreen. These features can only be obtained by using a rooted handset at the moment, but the official consumer release is just around the corner for Nexus mobiles. We’re strongly hoping that Google has learnt from the fiasco of the Lollipop release and will work more effectively with carriers to push Marshmallow out to as many people as possible and as quickly as possible. In the meantime, take a look around the final developer preview for Android Marshmallow and its many user-friendly updates that should smooth out a lot of issues. Some features, such as the fingerprint scanner, will obviously be affected by the kind of phone you have, but the majority of users should be able to enjoy all these features within the next few months.
When will I get it?
