शतक्रतु = सैकड़ो प्रज्ञाओं एवं कर्मों से युक्त

पञ्चशत्रु = काम क्रोध लोभ मोह अहंकार

विजेता= विजय दिलाने वाला

परिपक्व= पूरी तरह से पका हुआ

स्वाध्याय

संसार में कोई किसी के गीत गाता है, कोई किसी के। पर मेरी वाणियां तो इन्द्र प्रभु के गीत गा रही हैं। मैंने इन्द्र की महिमा को देख लिया है। अतः क्यों ना उसी को अपना अग्रणी बनाऊं, क्यों ना उसी के सम्मुख सर नवाऊं,क्यों ना उसी की शरण में जाऊं, क्यों ना उसी शक्तिपुंज से शक्ति प्राप्त करूं ?वह इन्द्र' शतक्रतु ' है,अनन्त प्रज्ञाओं और कर्मों से युक्त है। कैसी अद्भुत उसकी प्रज्ञा है ? चांद, सूरज सितारे, पर्वत, सरिता, समुद्र, बादल, बिजली, भूमि, आकाश ऋतुएं संवत्सर उसकी प्रज्ञा की दुहाई दे रहे हैं। कैसे निराले उसके कर्म हैं? यह क्या कब आश्चर्य की बात है कि आकाश के परिव्राजक लोक-लोकान्तर गति कर रहे हैंं, फिर भी एक दूसरे से टकराते नहीं?असंख्य तारे आकाश में बिना डोर के टंगे हुए क्या अचरज में नहीं डालते? कैसे पांच तत्वों से यह सृष्टि बन गई और कैसे फिर तत्वों में विलीन हो जाएगी? कैसे प्राणियों के हाड- मांस के जीवित शरीर बन गए? क्या मन मुग्ध नहीं हो जाता ?इन्द्र की इस सब कारीगरी को देखकर?

इन्द्र 'अर्णव ' है सागर है, करुणा का सागर है, आनन्द का सागर है, कृपा का सागर है, समस्त सद्गुणों का सागर है। वह ' शाकी ' है् परम शक्तिशाली है। वह 'नर' है, नेता है, सन्मार्ग दर्शाने वाला है। उन्नति के पथ पर अग्रसर करने वाला है। वह ' वाजसनि ' है, आत्मबल देने वाला है। वह 'पूर्भिद ' है, अपने और उपासक के बीच में जो मिलन का बाधक लोहदुर्ग है, उसे तोड़ने में उपासक की सहायता करता है। वह ' तूर्णि ' है त्वरायुक्त है, शीघ्रकारी है, सच्चे हृदय से प्रार्थना करने पर अविलम्ब संकटमोचन करता है। वह ' अप्-तुर ' है, साधक के प्राणों को वेग देने वाला है, जैसे बाह्य जगत् में उसने नदियों को वेग दिया है।

वह ' धामसाच ' है, तेज से समवेत है ।वह ' अभिषाच ' है, आन्तरिक और बाह्य रिपुओं का परजेता है।वह

' स्वर्विद् ' है, दिव्य आनन्द प्राप्त कराने वाला है।

आओ, उस इन्द्र की गुणावलि का गान कर, हम भी वैसे ही बनने का पुरुषार्थ करें।

In this world, some sing songs of one person, some of another. But my words are singing songs of Lord Indra. I have seen the glory of Indra. So why should I not make him my leader, why should I not bow my head in front of him, why should I not take refuge in him, why should I not get power from that very power? That Indra is 'Shatakratu', endowed with infinite wisdom and deeds. How amazing is his wisdom? The moon, the sun, the stars, the mountains, the rivers, the seas, the clouds, the lightning, the earth, the sky, the seasons, the Samvatsaras are all calling out to his wisdom. How unique are his deeds? Is it a matter of surprise that the wanderers of the sky are moving from one world to another, yet they do not collide with each other? Don't the countless stars hanging in the sky without strings amaze us? How was this universe made of five elements and how will it merge into the elements again? How did the living bodies of the living beings come into existence from the bones and flesh? Doesn't the mind get enchanted on seeing all this craftsmanship of Indra?

Indra is 'Arnav', the ocean, the ocean of compassion, the ocean of joy, the ocean of kindness, the ocean of all virtues. He is 'Shaki', the most powerful. He is 'Nara', the leader, the one who shows the right path. He leads on the path of progress. He is 'Vajasani', the one who gives self-confidence. He is 'Purbhid', he helps the worshipper in breaking the Lohdurga which is an obstacle in the union between him and the worshipper. He is 'Turni', he is swift, he is quick, he immediately gets rid of the problems on praying with a true heart. He is 'Ap-Tur', he gives speed to the life of the devotee, just like he has given speed to the rivers in the external world.

He is 'Dhamasach', is filled with brilliance. He is 'Abhishaach', the conqueror of internal and external enemies. He is 'Swarvid', the one who gives divine bliss. Come, let us sing the virtues of that Indra and strive to become like him.
