महान पुरुष भौतिक वस्तु के आभाव में भी दुनीया को बदलने में समर्थ होते हैं।

  क्रियासिद्धिः सत्त्वे भवति महतां 

घटो जन्मस्थानं, मृगपरिजनो, भूर्जवसनं

वने वासः, कन्दादिकमशनमेवंविधगुणः ।

अगस्त्यः पाथोधिं यदकृत कराम्भोज-कुहरे

क्रियासिद्धिः सत्त्वे भवति महतां नोपकरणे ॥ १॥

    ऋषि अगस्त्य का जन्म एक छोटे से बर्तन में हुआ था। उसके साथी के रूप में सिर्फ जानवर थे। वह केवल छाल से बने कपड़े ही पहनते थे। वह जंगलों में रहते थे। ऋषि कच्चे फल और जड़ ही खाते थे। फिर भी अगस्त्य मुनि ने पूरे विशाल महासागर को अपने कमल-समान संयुक्त हथेलियों के खोखले में गायब कर दिया (इसे पीकर)। इससे सिद्ध होता है कि महान् आत्माएं सफलता के साथ भव्य कर्म करने के लिए केवल अपनी व्यक्तिगत महानता पर निर्भर करती हैं, किसी सामान्य भौतिक साधन पर नहीं।

 Sage agastya was born in a tiny pot.  He has just animals as His companions.  He wears  only bark-made clothes.  He lives in woodlands.  The sage eats only raw roots.  Yet agastya Muni made the whole vast ocean disappear into the hollow of His lotus-like joined palms (by drinking it up).  This proves that to perform magnificent action with success, great souls rely only on their own personal greatness, not on any common material means.

रथस्यैकं चक्रं, भुजगयमिताः सप्त तुरगाः

निरालम्बो मार्गश्चरणविकलः सारथिरपि ।

रविर्यात्येवान्तं प्रतिदिनमपारस्य नभसः

क्रियासिद्धिः सत्त्वे भवति महतां, नोपकरणे ॥ २॥

    सूर्य के रथ में केवल एक ही पहिया है। रथ खींचने वाले - सात घोड़े - लगाम के रूप में काम करने वाले किरणों द्वारा नियंत्रित होते हैं। सूर्य का आकाशीय मार्ग अनिश्चित है क्योंकि धारण करने के लिए कुछ भी नहीं है, और सारथी, भगवान अरुण सक्षम नहीं हैं। इनमें से किसी भी कमियों से अप्रभावित, सूर्य हर दिन, दिन-ब-दिन असीम आकाश को सफलतापूर्वक पार करता है। इससे सिद्ध होता है कि महान् आत्माएं सफलता के साथ भव्य कर्म करने के लिए केवल अपनी व्यक्तिगत महानता पर निर्भर करती हैं, किसी सामान्य भौतिक साधन पर नहीं।

The Sun’s chariot has only a single wheel; the chariot’s pullers — seven horses — are controlled by snakes working as reins.  The Sun’s celestial path is precarious because there is nothing to hold on to, and the charioteer, God aruNa is not able-bodied.  Unaffected by any of these shortcomings, the Sun successfully traverses the boundless sky every day, day after day.  This proves that, to perform magnificent action with success, great souls rely only on their own personal greatness, not on any common material means.

विजेतव्या लङ्का, चरणतरणीयो जलनिधि,-

र्विपक्षः पौलस्त्यो, रणभुवि सहायाश्च कपयः ।

तथाप्येको रामः सकलमवधीद्राक्षसकुलं

क्रियासिद्धिः सत्त्वे भवति महतां, नोपकरणे ॥ ३॥

    लंका के शक्तिशाली राज्य को जीतने के लिए, भगवान राम को केवल पैदल यात्रा करते हुए विशाल महासागर को पार करना पड़ा। उनकी विपरीत संख्या पुलस्त्य के प्रसिद्ध पुत्र, राक्षस रावण के अलावा और कोई नहीं थी। इस कार्य में श्रीराम की सहायता करने के लिए उनकी सेना में केवल वानर थे। फिर भी, राजकुमार ने अकेले ही (बिना किसी शक्तिशाली सहयोगी के) पूरे राक्षस वंश को नष्ट कर दिया। इससे सिद्ध होता है कि महापुरुष सफलता के साथ शानदार कार्य करने के लिए केवल अपनी व्यक्तिगत महानता पर ही भरोसा करते हैं, किसी सामान्य भौतिक साधन पर नहीं।

    To conquer the powerful kingdom of Lanka, Lord rAma had to cross the vast ocean traveling just on foot.  His opposite number was none other than Pulastya’s famous son, the demon rAvaNa.  To help SReerAma in this task, there were only monkeys in His army.  Nevertheless, the Prince destroyed the entire rAkshasa clan singlehandedly (without any powerful allies). This proves that to perform magnificent action with success, great men rely only on their own personal greatness, not on any common material means.

धनुः पौष्पं, मौर्वी मधुकरमयी, चञ्चलदृशां

दृशां कोणो बाणः, सुहृदपि जडात्मा हिमकरः ।

स्वयं चैकोऽनङ्गः सकलभुवनं व्याकुलयति

क्रियासिद्धिः सत्त्वे भवति महतां, नोपकरणे ॥ ४॥

    प्रेम के देवता, मनमाथा, के पास केवल एक धनुष है जो कि फूलों से बना है; उसके धनुष की डोरी मधुमक्खियों से बनी है जो कभी स्थिर नहीं रहती; बेचैन आंखों वाली युवतियों की आंख-कोने की निगाहें उनके तीर हैं। उसका सबसे अच्छा दोस्त निष्क्रिय और ठंडा चंद्रमा है; प्रेम परमेश्वर स्वयं अशरीरी और अकेला है। इन कमियों के बावजूद, कामदेव प्रभावी रूप से तीनों लोकों में रहने वाले प्रत्येक प्राणी को प्रेम की पीड़ा से पीड़ा देता है! इससे सिद्ध होता है कि महापुरुष सफलता के साथ शानदार कार्य करने के लिए केवल अपनी व्यक्तिगत महानता पर ही भरोसा करते हैं, किसी सामान्य भौतिक साधन पर नहीं।

    The Deity of Love, Manmatha, has a only a bow made of flimsy flowers;  His bow’s string is made of bees that never stay steady; the eye-corner glances of young women with restless eyes are His arrows.  His best friend is the inert and cold Moon; the Love God is Himself bodiless and alone.  In spite of these drawbacks, KAmadEva effectively tortures through pangs of love every living being in all the three worlds!  This proves that to perform magnificent action with success great men rely only on their own personal greatness, not any common material means.

विपक्षः श्रीकण्ठो, जडतनुरमात्यः शशधरो 

वसन्तः सामन्तः कुसुममिषवः सैन्यमबलाः । 

तथापि त्रैलोक्यं जयति मदनो देहरहितः

क्रियासिद्धिः सत्त्वे भवति महतां, नोपकरणे ॥ ५॥

   मदन के विपरीत पक्ष में, प्रेम के देवता, भगवान शिव, त्याग के शक्तिशाली देवता हैं। मदन के सलाहकार-इन-चीफ निर्जीव, निष्क्रिय चंद्रमा हैं; मदन का अधीनस्थ राजा वसंत ऋतु है; मदन के बाण फूलों से बने हैं और उनकी सेना कमजोर महिलाओं की है। इन सभी कमियों के बावजूद, और अपने अशरीरी होने के बावजूद, कामुक प्रेम के देवता दुनिया के पूरे त्रय को हरा देते हैं! यह सत्यवाद को सिद्ध करता है: सफलता के साथ शानदार कार्य करने के लिए, महापुरुष केवल अपनी व्यक्तिगत महानता पर भरोसा करते हैं, किसी सामान्य भौतिक साधन पर नहीं।

    On the opposing side of Madana, the God of Love, stands Lord Siva, the powerful God of Renunciation.  Madana’s advisor-in-chief is the lifeless, inert Moon; Madana’s subordinate king is the Spring Season;  Madana’s arrows are made of flowers and His army is made of female weaklings. Despite all these drawbacks, and in spite of His being bodiless, the God of Erotic Love defeats the entire triad of the worlds! This proves the truism: to perform magnificent action with success, great men rely only on their own personal greatness, not on any common material means.
